Muesli, nuts and lemon tea – that is what animals eat in severe frosts. Animals that used to live in warm climates need nutritious foods to feel good. The head of the Zoo tells the schedule of their work changes when the weather is cold. A part of thermophilic animals is placed to specially equipped houses. Others – who can resist colds are provided with additional warm water and hay.

Animals’ feeding is completely different in winter. For example, raccoons, who like meat, eat dry food, because in the fresh air the meat freezes immediately. Monkeys, lemurs and meerkats eat porridge with dried fruit. The animals are also feed more often.

Besides, a lot of birds fly to the Zoo in search of food and shelter. The workers of the Zoo call them ‘non-registered residents’ and gladly feed them.
