The House of Givenchy is sad to report the passing of its founder Hubert de Givenchy, a major personality of the world of French Haute Couture and a gentleman who symbolized Parisian Chic and elegance for half a century. He will be greatly missed.

The relatives inform he died in a dream on 10 March. Mr. Givenchy was emblematic of a generation of gentlemanly designers who established their couture houses in postwar Paris. His very first show impressed with simplicity and elegance. Since than Mr. Givenchy has become one of the most influential of the fashion world.

He worked with Hollywood stars. Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy were his muses and the most devoted fans.

The relatives of couturier informed that just the closest people will be at the funeral. They also asked to give money for charity instead of buying flowers.
