This is a square near school #2. Friends of Kost Shyshko, local teachers of the Ukrainian language and literature plant trees on the honor of the poet who would have celebrated 78th anniversary this year. The location is not accidental – this is the school where he used to study.

The school master showed the register with the poet’s marks. The friends of Shyshko tell he was a brilliant personality.

He suffered from Soviet system a lot – the authorities prohibited to publish his poems. For a long time he had to work as a builder, as a street sweeper and a loader.

Kost Shyshko was a writer and a painter. He published four books with the poems, which are still so close for all of us.
