An original Ukrainian class was held in the central library for children. Pupils of the 8th form from school #9 got to know with the students from Namibia. They were discussing the problems of language purity.

They were even doing some exercises, like choosing synonyms and replacing ‘surzhyk’ words with the literal ones.  The event was timed to the International Mother Language Day, that is celebrated on 21 February.

The foreigners stated that they do like the Ukrainian language, even though it is difficult to study. Now they are the students of Eastern European National University. They have already learnt some general phrases.

The guests also shared their plans for the future. Later the pupils ad a small talk with them in English. The managers of the meeting are convinced that events of such kinds will not only popularize the Ukrainian language among foreigners, but also establish intercultural relations.
