Sahryn’ is a village in Ukrainian-Polish borderline. Here more than a thousand of peasants killed in 1944 are buried. In Saturday 10 March, Ukrainian delegation came there to honor them.

The topic of historical remembrance of Ukrainian-Polish relationships is now a burning one because of new Polish “antinationalistic” laws. Ukrainians who live in Poland told that they feel discrimination now.

The speakers stated it is really important to keep friendly relations with Poland and not to focus on negative historical moments because these two nations have more similarities than differences.

However, we could not find out the opinion of the Poles concerning this point. Unfortunately, no Polish officials came.

Petro Poroshenko in his letter to the president of Poland asked him to open a memorial in Sahryn’ next year. Now he is looking forward to the feedback from Andrzej Duda.
