On 17 February, Kosovo celebrated its 10th independence anniversary. Ten years ago the incumbent President of the country Hashim Thaci declared the independence of the region. Kosovo is the youngest European country. At the end of the 90-s there was a military uprising of the Kosovo-Albanian separatists. The Yugoslav armed forces responded rigorously. The conflict ended only after NATO intervened and launched an air operation. The UN protected Kosovo that time.

Now the country is a candidate to enter the EU. The independence of the country was admitted by 110 countries. Together with Serbia, Ukraine and Russia do not admit its independence.

Kosovo has its Olympic achievements. The judoist Majlinda Kelmendi brought first golden medal to her country in 2016. Events of such kind affirm the country in the international arena.

The average age of Kosovo citizens is only 26 years.

It is the youngest country in Europe and among the poorest, too.

Thousands of citizens leave the country to work abroad.

There are a lot of problems, internal governmental institutions are only being formed now, so as economics and politics. However, the locals believe in their country and work on its development.
