A power station exploded in Puerto Rico. The part of the country and its capital remain without electricity.

The fire is almost stamped out, however the situation is still critical. The island has not recovered after the Maria hurricane yet. 40% of the population don’t have electricity after the storm which was 4 months ago.

The electricity grid has not been repaired for years. Now, after the hurricane, it has to be completely replaced, experts say, but it’s time consuming. Private companies are already offering their services to restore electricity on the island. Concerning economic situation, Puerto Rico is in urgent need of foreign investment. Start-up companies may also propose their solutions such as micro energy systems or solar panels.

The whole system replacement may last for years.
