Thai people celebrated Elephant’s Day with a bang. This animal is esteemed in the country since ancient times. Elephants have been Thais’ good helpers for quite a long time: they helped to build cities and temples, guided soldiers on wars and now they help encourage tourist to visit the kingdom. Tourism – is one of the country’s key points in economical sphere.

On 13 March all the public places of Thailand are closed for people, but not for the elephants. There are also parades and unique events where precious animals participate.

Today the population of these mammals is little less than 4000, so all the money collected go for their protection.
