Leonid Kadeliuk was the only cosmonaut of independent Ukraine. He died on 31st of January at the age of 67. It happened suddenly during his morning jogging in Kyiv.

Kadeniuk was born in 1951 in Klishkivtsi village in Bukovyna. His parents were teachers. In 1967 he entered Chernihiv Military Aviation School of pilots.

Soon he was a member of group of cosmonauts of National space agency.

In 1997 he conducted his flight on American shuttle ‘Columbia’. During expedition he investigated plants.

He also participated in aerospace systems’ development and testing.

Leonid Kadeliuk published five scientific works and a book ‘Space Mission’ last year.
